Monthly, like clockwork
As I am in the middle of watching Karate Kid III, this may be a shorter than usual post. Well actually considering that usual is not posting anything at all this will be a long post.
Many things have happened since I last posted, one of the notables being that I had my twenty-fifth birthday. wait...Pat Morita is talking... OK I'm back. Any who, I had my birthday party at YABs. Now, I've mentioned Yab couple times, what with him being the second coolest Japanese person in Japan(after Kame up in Hokkaido who is number one). So at the party, where everyone was having a good time and people were celebrating my birth, a certain man was there. That man, was the president of the Osaka Arm Wrestling Federation. The kanji on his shirt meant "burning arm" and he was this tough old guy. Well Yab said that anyone could beat him would get two drinks "on the house". Now, I put those in quotes not because it isn't true, but because it is one of his new favorite English phrases. Well it doesn't make any sense try to take on a man that arm wrestles for a hobby, but the beer that I had already had wanted me to get them two new friends. Now he wont the first two when we were throwing with the right, but when we switched up southpaw Brian came into his own. I beat him once, he didn't believe it. Beat him again, little bit of shock. After the third, forth, and fifth time, he knew the score...I owned the left arm.
Many people came out and it was really a good time. Everyone seemed to have a really good time and it was a lot of fun. I would love to post some pictures but sadly I did not take any and I have not seen any. So sorry. For the next couple of days some personal stuff happened and I was pretty down for a while. The whole thing is situational and it just really sucks. Some days are definitely worse than others but I have a pretty solid group of people that help out. Also I've rediscovered Flogging Molly which makes me want to dance a little jig when ever I hear them. Always an upswing in mood when they're in my iPod
Also I've been focusing on my Japanese study and trying to really get back on track. I've been creating tests for myself so I can see progression. I have also been trying to focus on my Judo. I just got some short 10 second clips of myself at practice that my buddy Myles filmed for me so I'm hopefully going to be putting those up in the next few days.
Also, today was my graduation ceremony for the third years so I have some pictures of that as well. I'm going to Hokkaido for a short little vacation towards the end of March so I will have some pictures for that when I get back, so hopefully I begin to start posting more regularly.
ooooh, also I've been listening to the Street Dogs with Dropkick's old lead singer Mike McColgan who wanted to get back into music after doing the whole Boston Fire Department thing for a while. A live show of theirs would be pretty fun. He's a vet who when he was with Dropkick wrote several songs about the first gulf war.
